Leighton Buzzard Drama Group stages classic comedy.
ONE of this country's best loved farces No Sex Please, We're British is set to turn the air blue at Leighton's Library Theatre.
The comedy ran for nearly a decade in London's West End despite being universally panned by critics and lasting just 16 performances on Broadway.
But we can't get enough of the ribald antics which have become a staple for community theatre everywhere.
The Leighton Buzzard Drama Group is staging the hilarious romp over three nights starting next Thursday and director Colin Aldous promises a laugh a minute.
The farce surrounds assistant bank manager, Peter Hunter, who lives above his bank with his new bride Frances.
Laughter comes by express delivery when the newlywed bride sends away for some Scandinavian glassware, which she can sell from her home to bolster the family's income.
What arrives in the mail is so shocking that it must be hidden from sight. What will the neighbours think?
The Hunters don't want to find out and they create hysterical complications as they try and keep the pleasure package away from some unexpected visitors including a nosy mother-in-law, a bank inspector, a police superintendent and a muddled friend who does everything wrong in his attempt to set everything right.
The result is a dizzy string of madcap mix-ups and action-packed chaos that will receive a stamp of approval from audiences of all ages.
No Sex Please We're British runs from July 2 to 4.
*It is also being staged by the group at the Chrysalis Theatre, Japonica Lane, Willen Park South, Milton Keynes from July 16-18.
