AS PART of the National Year of Reading, Leighton Buzzard Library will be hosting a visit by award-winning author R S Downie this week.
The writer will talk about her new detective series, featuring Ruso, an army doctor in Roman Britain, dubbed by reviewers as "Harrison Ford in his heyday".

Downie's first book, Ruso and the Disappearing Dancing Girls, was a New York Times hardback bestseller.

She also won the Fay Weldon section of BBC3's End of Story competition and was runner-up in the Mail on Sunday's "Start a Novel" competition.

Being a keen amateur archaeologist, her books are meticulously researched.

The charming and colourful series is a must-read for Lindsey Davis fans, and hugely popular with critics and crime fans alike.

This free event is on Thursday April 17 at 7pm.
