Poetry eveing at cafe.

Barista Bay, the popular Market Square café, is planning a poetry evening.

The cafe is taking bookings for Fairtrade Leighton-Linslade's second "Poetry Café" evening on Thursday October 9, which is National Poetry Day.

Fairtrade Steering Group member, Angela Feaviour, said: "We have often been asked to repeat the poetry café evening we did two years ago. The theme this year is "Work", which is appropriate because supporting Fairtrade helps marginalised farmers in developing countries work themselves out of poverty.

"We are planning to have a 'stand up moment', symbolically taking part in the campaign Stand Up and Take Action Against Poverty and supporting the Millennium Development Goals.

"Quite a few people are willing to read, either from their own or other poet's work on a variety of subjects. We will also be promoting Divine Chocolate's poetry competition – entries to be in by December 22. Divine Chocolate has sent some free chocolate samples as a source of inspiration, so we are looking forward to a successful evening."

To book call Barista Bay on LB 383585.
