Bedfordshire is set to host the biggest and best St George's Day celebrations this year, with English Heritage's 12th annual St George's Day Festival – the largest and longest-running celebration in the country.
St George's Day is fast approaching
and the gallant knight is preparing to battle it out with his ancient rival, the dastardly dragon.
Today St George brings his campaign to gain support from the good people of Bedfordshire, calling them to gather at Wrest Park near Silsoe and witness him defeat his ancient foe.
Lisa Hampton, events manager for the East of England said: "This year's battle is set to be the fiercest Bedford has ever seen!
"Last year saw many visitors supporting the dragon, which enraged St George.
"This year he is expecting the people of Bedford to be waving their St George's flag in honour of him."
This year the festival is bigger and better than ever, with a whole range of new attractions to keep the family entertained.
New for 2008 is the St George Academy where budding valiant knights can train to become as mighty and gallant as St George himself.
St George's Day wouldn't be complete without the ultimate showdown between the ferocious dragon and heroic St George.
Cheer on your favourite as they battle it out in the twice daily tournament, an exhilarating climax to a fun-filled family day out with a difference.
The St George's Day Festival is being held at Wrest Park, Bedfordshire from 10am to 6pm on Saturday April 19 and Sunday April 20.
