FINAL preparations for The Rotary Club of Leighton-Linslade May Day Fayre 2008 are in full swing and fingers are being crossed for fine weather, following last year's deluge.
The theme of this year's fun-packed fayre is Sporty Leighton Buzzard.
Visitors to Parson's Close recreation ground can have a go at a whole host of outdoor activities such as tackling the climbing wall, archery, reverse bungee, canoeing and rowing as well as slides and jumps for the youngsters.
Top attractions include a preliminary heat of the World's Strongest Man competition with competitors straining to lift incredible weights, overturn cars and struggle with those awesome Atlas Stones.
The daunting Thomas Inch dumbell will be available for anyone with brawn enough to attempt to lift it as far as their knees.
The ever-popular donkey derby returns to the rec' thanks to the generosity of local businesses and the fun dog show is also expected to be a big draw.
The High Street will again be lined with charity stalls offering everything from bric-a-brac to traditional games of chance and the Smith family's fairground rides are sure to be a big hit.
The fayre starts at 10am on May 5 and the fun goes on until 4pm.
Rotarian David Edwards said: "All that we need now is for the population of Leighton and Linslade to turn out and celebrate this great day."
