70 children took part in a sports and dance extravaganza

Little devils enjoy the fun.

HOLIDAY ACTIVITIES: More than 70 children took part in a fabulous sports and dance extravaganza over the October half term holiday, organised by Parish Clerk Sara Crann with funding from the Confident Communities Fund.

Children in school years 3 and above took part in an huge array of activities including: street dancing, salsa, boxing, rugby, football, cricket, netball, basketball, hockey, golf and others.

The successful week finished with a Hallowe'en theme on Friday when all the coaches and children came in fancy dress. The activities certainly ensured youngsters had something to do other than hanging around the streets or at home bored.

Several coaches enjoyed it so much that they have offered to run weekly sessions for the youngsters. A youth boxing session will start next Wednesday, junior salsa lessons will begin in the new year and street dancing sessions are to be confirmed.

Heath and Reach Parish Council is committed to providing activities for the youngsters in the village and was pleased this event proved so popular.

CHEESE AND WINE: Following the success of its last event, Heath Village Barn Committee is holding another wine and cheese evening at the Barn on the corner of Eastern Way.

There will be an opportunity to sample another delightful selection of fine wines complemented by a scrumptious cheese board!

Tickets are on sale now priced 10 and there is also the chance to enter a Champagne raffle. Contact Nigel (237045) for further details. All monies raised will go towards the Barn Repair Fund.

BURGLARY: Thieves who broke into a house in Lane's End, Heath and Reach, on Thursday, made off with a television.

The burglars got in by smashing a window in a rear door sometime between noon and 6.30pm.
