Ben’s cheeky pressie to mum
Wing teenager Ben Cleaver gave his mum the best birthday and Mother’s Day ever.
An amazing 99 – yes 99 – gifts.
The 17-year-old beat off stiff opposition in a search for the town’s “number one mum”.
He saw off scores of entries in a Mother’s Day competition organised by the 99p Stores, in Leighton High Street after sending in this entry : “Sorry mum, if you don’t win this, you haven’t got a present” - with the sentence ending in a sad smiley!
“He won hands down,” said 99p Stores boss Hussein Lalani.
“Wonderful humour.”
The maths A-Level student certainly got his sums right as his mum’s birthday was two days before Mother’s Day.
“A true retail ‘two for one’,” quipped Ben.
The search for the town’s ‘Number One Mum’ asked for “one sentence entries”. Nearly 100 people entered.
Mum Clare said: “This is a very characteristic sentence of Ben’s humour. What a great surprise. Thank you son!”
Clare would only reveal her age as “21” – suggesting, perhaps, she shares her son’s humour and sense of fun!”
