Connie wins place in Irish dancing world championships
Connie Byrne, aged 11, a Year 7 student at Brooklands School has won a place in the Comhdhail World Championships of Irish Dancing being held in Dublin at the end of March.
Connie will be competing in the U12 championships and her younger sister Tilly will be in the U11 championship.
Connie has been Irish dancing for the last six years and practices at weekends and during the week. She is very commited to her dancing and also designs her beautiful dance outfits along with advising her younger sister about her dresses.
Connie said: “I would like to thank my mum, dad and grandparents for all of their love and support and for them believing in me. I also want to wish my little sister good luck. Claire, my dance teacher, is fantastic at teaching and advising me.”
Steve Harrington-Williams, headteacher, said: “I would like to wish Connie all the best in her up and coming competition, I know how much time and effort she puts into her dancing and she thoroughly deserves her place in the world championships. I look forward to speaking to her about her experiences when she returns. Good luck Connie.”
Connie will be performing at the school on Friday (March 15) at 7pm in a concert raising money for Comic Relief. The concert is free to all those wishing to attend.
