Hall celebrates official opening

Linslade Community Hall saw celebrations on Sunday with the official opening of the final stage of the refurbishment project, bringing to an end over six years of fundraising and community effort to revitalise an ageing and dilapidated building.

According to vicar Father Bernard Minton “this is almost the end, but not quite.”

He added that the congregation expressed its heartfelt thanks to those who have worked so hard to complete the project – architects, builders and fundraisers.

More funds are needed to complete the final touches, but the main hall and two new smaller meeting rooms are now available for hire, together with a new kitchen which will be brought into service in the near future.

The hall now also boasts new toilets, including disabled facilities. Members of the congregation and local benefactors attended the opening event, together with past clergy who have followed and supported the project from afar.

Mayor Alan Brandham and his wife Sally also attended – Leighton-Linslade Town Council has offered continued support since the start of the project.

A cheque was also presented to Father Bernard by Leighton Obedience and Ringcraft Club, a long-standing supporter and user of the hall.
