THE official opening of the Luton and Bedfordshire Mental Health Unit in Lewsey Road, Luton, took place on Wednesday (August 8).
SEPT Chief Executive, Dr Patrick Geoghegan OBE, opened the former Limetrees unit, which has been redeveloped and majorly refurbished.
It will now house the Crisis Resolution Home Treatment Team, Secion 136 suite, 10 beds assessment and 30 beds adult admission inpatient services which are currently provided in Oakley Court in Luton.
This concludes the transformation plan for the Luton and Dunstable site with the establishment of a new site identity.
Dr Geoghegan OBE said “I’m pleased to say we have delivered on our objectives and I’m delighted the new Luton and Central Bedfordshire Mental Health Unit is now open and I extend my thanks to all those involved in the project. This opening marks further excellent progress of SEPT’s mental health transformation for services in Luton and Bedfordshire”.
Wards at the unit have been renamed after semi-precious stones such as onyx, crystal and jade, to reflect their healing properties.
