New courses from WEA

WEA

WEA

The Workers’ Education Association (WEA), in Leighton, has two new classes that are open for the public to enjoy, starting soon.

On Wednesday, Jan 23, (10.30am-12.30pm) tutor Kate Phillips, one of the group’s most popular tutors, will be looking at the invention of the global brand of the Tudor dynasty through the study of the images of the time.

The classes will focus on Henry VIII and Elizabeth I, both instantly recognisable and endlessly fascinating.

A day later (10am-midday) there will be Isaac Newton: His Life & Times with tutor Paul Ranford.

Newton is best known for his work in experimental physics and maths, but his greatest labours were dedicated to alchemy, biblical prophecy and the interpretation of scripture. The course will give an insight into Newton’s character, his life and works and their influence.

The group meets at the Library Theatre lounge. Both courses will last eight weeks with a one week break at half-term. Contact the secretary, Ken Prosser on 01525 210294 for more information.
