Two dates for giving blood

The NHS Blood and Transplants service is urging people to give blood this month.

Forthcoming sessions include:

> Scout Association Hall, Grovebury Road, Leighton Buzzard on Thursday, October 11, 12.45pm to 3.45pm and 5pm to 7.30pm.

> Brooklands Hall, Garden Leys off Brooklands Drive, Leighton Buzzard on Wednesday, October 17, 12pm to 3pm and 4.15pm to 7pm.

Donated blood can save the lives of the sick and injured, in emergency situations and for patients undergoing treatment for cancer and blood diseases such as leukaemia.

Anyone aged 17-65, weighing more than 50kg (7 stone 12lbs) and in general good health could potentially save lives by becoming a blood donor.
