Wind turbine vote is withdrawn
A wind turbine
THE LBO has decided to withdraw its online poll on the plans for a wind farm at Dorcas Lane, near Stoke Hammond.
The poll went live on Sunday, February 5 but by Wednesday, February 8 an unrealistic number of votes had been cast when compared to user figures, leading us to suspect the vote had been hijacked by web ‘bots’.
Concerned about the poll’s integrity and to be fair to both parties, the LBO has decided to cancel the online vote which we had intended to present to Aylesbury Vale District Council.
But our readers can still make their views known about the planning application for the four turbines by purchasing a copy of the LBO and filling in the voting form which will be printed for a number of weeks in the run-up to the council meeting.

Friday, February 10, 2012 at 09:49 PMVILLAGERS in Stewkley overwhelmingly voted at a public meeting last night to oppose plans for a wind farm on land in sight of their homes. Speakers from both sides of the debate attended a packed school hall to give voice to their views. At the end of the meeting, which was organised by Stewkley Parish Council and only open to registered electors, a secret ballot was held among the 125 residents present, which resulted in 111 opposed to the plan by Force 9, eight had no objections, three were undecided and there were two spoilt votes. Afterwards, Paul Smith, chairman of the Stewkley Parish Council said: “I am delighted so many parishioners had braved the cold weather to attend the meeting tonight. My thanks to the presenters for their interesting and informative presentations that have sparked such a lively debate both for, and against, the proposal. The feedback will be extremely helpful to us in forming our response to the planning authority, AVDC”. Read Tuesday’s LBO for the full story and have your chance to vote in the turbine debate. So far 2 YES 2 PARISH COUNCILS HAVE VOTED AGAINST THESE MONSTERS!!!! FACT YES FACT

Friday, February 10, 2012 at 06:36 AMWe need to get the Government onside, as well as local councils and others, if we are going to stop these wind turbines being built. Are you disillusioned by rising electricity prices, over dependence on the "green" dream [especially uneconomical and inefficient wind farms] and the destruction of our countryside then please register your objection to the Government by GOOGLING "E-PETITION 22958" and following the link. Please pass this message on to Councillors, members of your community and anyone else you know to persuade them to sign up too. If you are really concerned about wind turbines please write a letter promoting this petition to the Editors of your local newspapers.

Thursday, February 9, 2012 at 12:45 PMYou can bet your life that the people who voted for it live nowhere near it or simply do not know the noise that these things generate,it is a well known fact that wind turbine's are a waste of time and are not the answer to our energy needs, indeed over 100 mp's are now calling for the subsidies to wind farms be cut because of these very facts, they create noise do not work and are a blight on the countryside, one can only feel sorry for the people of stoke hammond which i know well having lived in nearby leighton buzzard for a number of years.

Thursday, February 9, 2012 at 12:25 PMThe whole online poll was a waste of time, I am sorry you have received "Death Threats" regarding this proposal against you and your family. I doubt 700 people voted for it and suspect it was a software error that caused the extremly high figures, I think you will find there is a very high number of objectors to this scheme of 300+ people that wrote into AVDC in objection to the Met Mast only 1 person wrote in with a no-objection.

Thursday, February 9, 2012 at 10:02 AMThank you for withdrawing the poll regarding the Dorcas Lane wind farm, it was clearly manipulated by anti demonstrators as it received 10,000 votes against in 4 hours. This and the death threats made to me and my family regarding the project are possibly from a minor number of objectors. It was good to see 700 people voted for the wind farm. D.Austin
