Wing village news by Ann Weight

Seventeen year old Burcott resident, Fei Yen Waller, who produced the Wing Calendar two years ago, has turned her talents to a map of Wing to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

The scale of the map allows houses to be individually defined, whilst the illustrations, some of her old sketches along with some new ones, surround it.

The map will be on sale at Café Oasis in All Saints’ Church on Saturday mornings for £5, with a portion of the price going to the church. For present residents of Wing, along with those who have moved away, this would be a very attractive present.

One of the illustrations shows the Coronation Arch in Burcott. This was a prototype for the arches which decorated the Mall for the Coronation in 1953 and was acquired by Fei Yen’s grandparents and has been in the family ever since.

Fei Yen is following in a long family tradition as her grandparents, Charles and Barbara Waller, produced a brightly coloured illustrated map of Aylesbury in 1951.

See a picture of the map in this Tuesday’s LBO.
