Step out to A Masked Ball

A Masked Ball

A Masked Ball

PERFORMERS from Pitstone, including popular local soloist Colin Arney in a principal role, will take the stage in Aylesbury Opera Group (AOG)’s next production, Verdi’s ‘A Masked Ball’.

Tickets are now on sale for the performances, sung in English, which will take place at the Court Theatre at Pendley Manor, Tring, on February 22, 24 and 25.

Colin has been performing since his schooldays with a variety of orchestras, choirs, choral/dramatic/operatic societies, often taking leading roles. His interests range “from the sublime (grand opera) to the ridiculous (pantomime)”. He has lived in Pitstone for more than 30 years and is a freelance music teacher following “a long and unspectacular career in the City of London”.

A Masked Ball, whose racy themes include doomed love, conspiracy, witchcraft and assassination, is loosely based on an 1833 play by French playwright Eugène Scribe about the assassination of King Gustav III of Sweden, who was shot in 1792 whilst attending a masked ball.
