Knife-edge suspense at The Court Theatre

Latest chapter in comedy thriller series.

LOCAL playwright Rob Farrow has come up with a fresh episode of Marreau, his long-running comedy thriller series, at The Court Theatre next week.

The Frayed Knot Theatre Company are performing Marreau and the Grey Dagger from next Wednesday to Saturday.

Although linked by common characters, each Marreau play is an individual story, so you don't need to have seen any of the earlier ones to enjoy this.

Marreau and the Grey Dagger finds our mistake-prone continental detective visiting Norfolk in search of a valuable dagger, little knowing that his arch enemy is hatching a cunning plan to discredit him in the eyes of the world.

However things do not go according to anyone's plans and soon Marreau and his friends are thrown into an investigation in which even he is a possible suspect.

The first three Marreau plays were performed around the area in village halls from 1991 to 1993 while the theatre at Pendley was closed.

When it reopened, the Bloody Carpet, a fourth play, was one of the first to be performed there, and all subsequent Marreaus have proved popular.

If you have seen a Marreau before, then you will know the kind of thing to expect – if not, then imagine Agatha Christie's famous Belgian sleuth Hercule Poirot – but nowhere near as clever – and prone to making ridiculous mistakes.

There are always plenty of very strange characters whom he has to investigate – and this play is no exception with dark secrets and peculiar personalities abounding.

To find out more about Marreau – visit his own website at www.marreau.co.uk and for more information about this play and Frayed Knot Theatre Company in general, visit their website at www.fktc.org.

Tickets, with a special "by one get one free" offer for next Thursday's performance, from the Box Office 01442 823130 or www.courttheatre.co.uk
