Modern twist to Taming of the Shrew at The Court Theatre

It's all change for one of Shakespeare's classic farces.

SHAKESPEARE'S The Taming of the Shrew is given a 21st century twist when the Prospect Theatre Company bring their adaptation to The Court Theatre, Tring.

This is a modern dress production involving a group of girls at a hen party, drunken football supporters and well spoken but ill behaved Hooray Henries, all of whom become Shakespeare's players in the play within a play.

There is the usual Shakespearean confusion as a lord changes places with his servant and a lone traveller is co-opted to impersonate his father

Plus there's plots to rival EastEnders as a single father struggles to controlhis violent elderdaughter while theyounger, whomhe thinks is a good girl, plays off three men one against the other, marrying one of them without the knowledge and consent of her father.

The play culminates in a scene of riotous drunkenness when three men place wagers on the behaviour of their wives.

It's a wonderful farce which everyone will enjoy. Katherine and Petruchio are played by Zenelle Oosthuizen and Nick Heritage (pictured).

The Taming of the Shrew is running from May 19-22. For tickets contact the box office 01442 823130.
