The Titfield Thunderbolt stops at the Court Theatre
No trainspotting please! Ealing comedy favourite takes to the stage.
The Titfield Thunderbolt pulls into Tring when a branch of the much loved Ealing comedy makes tracks for The Court Theatre.
Based on the 1953 film, Frayed Knot's production follows the adventures of a group of villagers who, to stop their local branch line from being closed, decide to buy and run the railway themselves.
They face government officials, railway inspectors and dastardly opposition from within the village. Will they win through? Or will their scheme run out of steam?
Inspired by the original T E B Clarke film, this innovative stage adaptation has been given some twists of its own. The original film is a much treasured story and an enjoyable record of times gone past.
This stage version uses ingenuity and imagination to recreate the spirit of the original film.
Frayed Knot take you back to the days when the plucky British spirit was capable of overcoming any difficulty. The same spirit helps the actors to overcome the lack of a real train engine, steamroller or English countryside.
Imagination and ingenuity creates a magical world on the stage. There are heroes and villains, vicars and barmaids. Everything you would expect from an Ealing comedy. There is no end of fun, joy and comedy in this exciting production.
The play was originally written for a cast of five and toured the country with Kate O'Mara and Steven Pinder in the leads. This production has a full cast of characters and no end of laughs. All aboard for the Titfield Thunderbolt!
Running from November 11-14. For tickets call the box office 01442 823130 orgo online www.courttheatre.co.uk
