ANTHONY Clark directs his new play, Our Brother David, a poignant and touching story inspired by Chekhov’s Uncle Vanya, at Watford Palace Theatre from tomorrow (Friday).

It is the summer of 2010. Former celebrity photographer David Tiller and his sister Sophie are managing to run their old family home as a guest house despite the rapid erosion of Fairwold’s coastline and a global recession threatening local businesses, But their peaceful existence is threatened when their one-time brother-in-law Lawrence and his stunning new girlfriend decide to spend a weekend by the sea.

The cast includes Penny Layden (Call The Midwife and Land Girls), Penny Beaumont, Justin Avoth, Beryl King, Richard O’Callaghan, Michael Lumsden (Alistair in The Archers), Camilla Power (Whitechapel) and Hugh John.

Our Brother David runs until April 28.
