Saucy burlesque heads to The Grove

A hot night of fun coming this autumn.

DON'T get over excited but there's something decidedly raunchy coming to The Grove this autumn that will appeal to both men and women.

An Evening of Burlesque is cashing in on a trend that saw the art of sexy fan dancing resurrected by the likes of Dita von Teese.

Burlesque is very much back in fashion – a new film called Burlesque starring Christina Aguilera and Cher is set to be a box office smash this year, following on from the success of Baz Lurhmann's Moulin Rouge starring Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor.

The history of burlesque dates back to the very origins of British theatre.

In the 17th century it was a popular form of musical and theatrical parody. The burlesque enjoyed the world over today has its origins in 1890s Paris and the rise of the Moulin Rouge.

This is a brand-new theatre production that recreates the tradition of Burlesque, giving it a modern-day twist.

"The show brings variety back to the theatre, combining musical and theatrical parody with the art of striptease, magic, comedy and dance," says show producer Michael Taylor.

The stars of the show have been playing to full houses regularly in London's West End.

"We thought it time the rest of the UK joined in the fun," says Michael.

"Elegant showgirls combine Parisian charm with Las Vegas glamour in a spectacle that marries live vocal talent with the art of burlesque."

An Evening of Burlesque is compered by the delectable Kiki Kaboom and includes the cream of British Burlesque talent including Miss Hotcake Kitty, Amber Topaz, Chrys Columbine, Miss Slinky Sparkles, Ginger Blush and The Kalki Hula Girl.

With magic, music and song (even featuring a frenzied live rendition of the cadenza of Beethoven's 3rd Piano Concerto in C Minor) and dance (including traditional fan dances) this is a production that promises to be the talk of the town for months to come.

It is for over 18s only.

At The Grove for one hot night on October 7. Get your tickets early!
