THE sensational Rodgers & Hammerstein classic musical, South Pacific, gets the summer season off to a sizzling start at The Waterside next week. The landmark production, starring Samantha Womack, Alex Ferns and Daniel Koek, paves the way for a host of shows, events that will provide something for everyone.

Derren Brown will stun audiences with his remarkable award-winning production Svengali, combining magic, suggestion, psychology, misdirection and showmanship in a unique series of shows at the end of May.

There will be laughs galore as the brilliantly funny musical comedy Girls Night follows five life-long friends celebrating the past on a hilarious karaoke night packed with girlie anthems including Dancing Queen, I will Survive and It’s Raining Men. Starring real-life sisters Gillian and Kim Taylforth.

The comedy, Dandy Dick, starring Olivier Award-winner Patricia Hodge and Olivier award nominee Nicholas Le Prevost, tells the hilarious story of the Very Reverend Augustin Jedd who preaches regularly against the evils of the Turf. But, following a visit from his tearaway sister, he risks all at the races, much against his better judgement. Mayhem ensues, with romantic intrigue, mistaken identity and a runaway horse...

Exploding back to life is The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy... Live! Reuniting the legendary radio and TV cast for just two performances! The new stage production is a radio show like you never saw before - surround sound, robots, really wild sound effects and drinks with extremely silly names.

For something a bit different an exciting collaboration between English National Ballet and Flawless finds street dance going classical in Against Time - a thrilling fusion of street dance, acrobatics and ballet. Classical ballet can be seen from English Youth Ballet as they return to give young dancers an opportunity to perform in a professional setting with their beautiful new production of The Sleeping Beauty.
