Crowds snap up bargains
LEIGHTON'S newest shop was greeted with enthusiasm this morning from the town's shoppers eager for a bargain.

99P Stores opened its doors at 9am in the High Street to a flurry of custom.

One savvy shopper had queued since 6.30am for a 99p tea set, and many more bargains were flying off the shelves.

The store's commercial director Hussein Lalami said: "We are very pleased to be here in Leighton Buzzard. We have plenty of bargains in store and with the credit crunch I'm sure no one can turn their nose up!

"This is a great opening for us and we hope we will bring more people into the High Street."

The first two people in the queue cut the ribbon to declare the store open.

Customer Joel Ellerma won an Ipod while he waiting.
