A SPECIALIST Beds Police team arrested two people and seized suspected crack-cocaine following raid on a house in Meadow Way, Leighton.

Detectives swooped at lunchtime on Thursday (May 8) where they arrested a man and a woman on suspicion of possessing Class A drugs worth about £300 with intent to supply.

They recovered wraps, scales and other paraphernalia and the pair were taken to Dunstable Police Station and later released on police bail.

The operation, led by DC Richard Foulkes, involved six officers from the division's Specialist and Economic Crime Unit and was the latest in a series of raids to take place since January.

In January, the unit arrested five people and seized tens of thousands of pounds believed to be the proceeds of crime following an operation in Leighton Buzzard.

DI Mark Lay, who heads the unit, said: "It has been an incredibly busy year and highlights that if you are involved in drugs and other serious offences in Bedfordshire, you can expect a visit from us at any time of the day or night.

"Part of our success is down to greater public awareness and support of our work, and we continue to urge the public to contact us with information – because we will act on it."

Anyone with information can contact police, in confidence, on 01234 841212 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
