MOURNERS gathered in their hundreds to pay their respects to 22-year-old Joshua Bladon who died tragically on a building site in Aylesbury two weeks ago.
All Saints and Church Square were packed with people, many wearing Josh's favourite colour yellow, to say their last goodbyes. The hearse was led by the snowboarding enthusiast's beloved yellow Renault Clio Sport car.

After the service, the former Vandyke Upper School pupil was buried at Vandyke Road cemetery. A gathering followed at Brooklands Club in Garden Leys and at The Lancer in Lake Street.

On Saturday, 80 of Josh's fellow car enthusiasts gathered at Tesco car park in Leighton for a remembrance drive to Southend for the weekend. All displayed the sticker Joshwa 172 RIP.

And on Sunday, Leighton Town's ground was the venue for a fund-raiser for the family, organised by Josh's best friend Ashley Sheath. Leighton Athletic and Leighton Borough played for what has now become the Joshua Bladon Memorial Shield. Athletic, captained by Ashley, won 3-1.

Josh's father Tony Bladon said: "We would like to thank all family and friends who attended the funeral, the car trip and the football match – especially to Ashley for arranging that – and for all the donations received. I believe £6,000 has been raised; £2,000 will go towards Joshua's headstone."

Josh's uncle Chris said: "I'd just like to say that myself and my family have been completely overwhelmed by the love, support and the hundreds of tributes that have been pouring in for Josh.

"I only wish Josh could have been here to see how all of his friends and colleagues came together at this very sad time.

"I'd like to thank everyone who wore something yellow on Friday and to all those who attended Josh's funeral, the car convoy to Southend, and the football at Leighton Town. Joshua's memory will definitely never be forgotten."

Meanwhile, tributes have still been pouring in to website Facebook since Josh's death. The LBO also received homages:
Zoe-Leigh Finch wrote a poem: "When the warmth of the sun touches my face,
I see your smile and feel your embrace.
I hear the whisper of love in the wind
And I know that you are close again
The rain speaks of tears and the thunder of pain,
But soon the sun comes the earth to reclaim.
As the days come and go and the world moves on,
I know you're still here, you'll never be gone.
On the night the Angel came and took your hand,
We cried as you left for an unknown land.
But Heaven rejoiced as you came into sight,
For your soul was a diamond, shining so bright. R.I.P Angel x"

And Jenny Franklin remembered: "I knew Josh, he was always such a nice caring person who never done wrong. One of the brightest stars I know. He will be greatly missed, always remembered. RIP Josh."

Joshua, from Brookside Walk, Leighton, died while digging the footings to an extension on a house in Bedgrove, Aylesbury, when the side caved in. A post mortem showed Joshua had died from asphyxiation and an inquest was opened and adjourned. Health and Safety executives are investigating the accident.
