LOCAL people have an official opportunity to comment on proposals for a huge sand quarry in the fields between Clipstone and Hockliffe.
Beds County Council and Luton Borough Council are jointly preparing the Minerals and Waste Development Framework for Bedfordshire and Luton.

The framework will set out the policies and proposals for the development and use of land for waste management and minerals extraction.

One area on the agenda is a new sand pit on land sandwiched between Clipstone, the A5 north from Hockliffe and Mile Tree Road, Heath and Reach. It lies partly in Hockliffe and partly in Eggington parishes.

The authorities are now undertaking public consultation on the site to assess its potential for inclusion in the minerals development plan documents. You can comment by logging onto www.bedfordshire.gov.uk.

From there click on the consultations link on the left hand side of the screen and follow the links to the Minerals Development Plan Documents.

The documents allow you to read and comment on-line and through registering with the site you will also be notified of all future work on the Minerals and Waste Development Framework.

Alternatively you can email views to mwplans@bedscc.gov.uk or write to Minerals and Waste Plans Team, Bedfordshire County Council, County Hall, Cauldwell Street, Bedford, MK42 9AP.
