FORGET Versace, Gucci and Prada, Leighton-Linslade Guides are now the designers to be seen wearing this summer.
Using a unique blend of fashionista focus and environmental awareness the guides hosted a fashion show last week that took recycling to a new level.

Inspired by a recent talk about Reducing, Re-using and Recycling from South Bedfordshire District Council’s Recycling Team, they have been designing clothes made out of the things most of us throw away.

The “Trash Fash” Fashion Show took place at the 1st Linslade Guides’ weekly Friday meeting.

Recycling Support Officers went along to the show to judge the best designs.

Winner of the Trendiest Trash ‘08 was Katie Tiltman, 13. She won the award for her designer handbag made from newspaper.

Guide Leader Maureen Cloke said: “The girls have been working so hard to put this show together.

“We’ve had some really original ideas and they’re really looking forward to showing off their designs.

“Who knows, maybe one day we’ll see some of their work on the High Street.”
