POLICE are appealing to the driver of a white van to come forward after he went to the aid of a man who had been attacked in the street outside his Leighton home.
The resident had gone out to remonstrate with a group who were vandalising vehicles in Grove Road. Moments later the group turned on the victim, kicking and punching him to the ground.

Beds Police spokesman, Dave Cook, said the injured man was knocked unconscious in a “very nasty attack.” He was found by the van driver who asked if he was all right.

“We would really like to speak to the driver as he may have some vital evidence about the man’s attackers,” he said.

The incident happened at about 10.45pm on April 18. Any witnesses should contact Pc Adam Balcomb 01234 841212 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, 0800 555111.
