A ‘Friends’ agreement is to be introduced to allow groups to support the work of Leighton-Linslade Town Council within specific areas of land.

The agreement will outline what groups can expect from the council and what the council can expect from local groups. The groups will support the work of the council, promoting and assisting two-way communication between volunteers and the authority.

They will be independent, but work in partnership with the council.

A council report said: “By having a local friend group in town council parks or open spaces, it is believed that they could help improve its appearance, have a say in its facilities, improve its biodiversity, increase its safety, meet new people, get exercise, make a positive contribution to the local area and organise improved community events.”

The council expects the group to seek authorisation before organising large events and to not physically change land/parks in any way.
