Artist's work a piece of cake!
Tebworth artist Amanda Coleman exhibits at the Royal Academy.
ARTIST Amanda Coleman's work at the Royal Academy's summer exhibition really take the biscuit.
Amid the thousands of entries to the country's most prestigious art show are two oils to savour by the Tebworth painter. One is of a piece of Battenburg cake and the other of an iced biscuit!
Amanda, from Toddington Road, is one of only two local artists exhibiting at the London show. Ian Bliss, of Vicarage Lane, Wing, whose work has appeared at the event in previous years, also has work on view.
Amanda has been painting for more than 10 years. After graduating with an honours degree in Fine Art from Coventry University she spent time in France where she continued to paint and also developed an interest in ceramics.
On her return she worked at a studio in an old perfume factory in the East End of London. She moved to Bedfordshire and now paints from home.
The 2009 Royal Academy of Art Summer Exhibition runs until August 16 but if you can't make it to Piccadilly Amanda's paintings will soon be on show at the Bedford Street Gallery in Woburn.
