Spending a fortune on a dress you’ll only wear for a few hours is the usual scenario for most brides.
But to try and make things I little easier during these tough economic times, two mums have set-up Treasured Bridal, a pre-loved bridal business based in Leighton Buzzard.
Lucy Hart and Katherine Edmond have created a chic boutique stocking an immaculate collection of unworn, ex-sample and once-worn wedding gowns.
Their objective is to provide a service that rivals a traditional wedding shop, and offers brides on a budget the opportunity to find their dream wedding dress for a price they can afford. With the average cost of a wedding now exceeding £18,000, and the country in a current state of recession, the duo recognised a gap in the market.
Lucy said: “We considered the number of women out there who recently got married, spent an absolute fortune on their wedding dress and have it sat in a box in their loft gathering dust.
“Most of these dresses will have been worn for a maximum of 12 hours and it seems such a waste to not make better use of such beautiful and expensive gowns. For a bride-to-be finding ‘the one and only’ dream dress is as important as the wedding itself.
“With the average cost of a designer wedding dress ranging from £500-£3,000, the affordability of these dresses is now out-of-reach for a lot of people.”
The Eden Way-based company say they provide an alternative option for local brides who want a designer dress but don’t want to pay the designer price tag. They have more than 50 dresses in stock which are hand-picked from the most recent collections for their quality and condition.
