China delivers 400 jobs to town

More than 400 jobs will be created in Dunstable after a Chinese company signed on the dotted line for premises in Prologis Park.

4PX is China’s leading cross-borders e-commerce solutions provider and works with companies such as eBay, Amazon and Alibaba.

The company is expanding its operations in the UK and the new facility at Prologis Park Dunstable will be an import, storage and distribution centre for its UK and European operations.

It is leasing 240,000 square foot for its 4PX Express UK Ltd business.

“With the growth of e-commerce in the UK there is an increasing demand for our one-stop e-commerce service, and we are delighted to have secured this new building,” said Henry Qi, Regional General Manager Europe, 4PX.

“Dunstable has a skilled logistics workforce and Prologis has provided a distribution centre that is exactly the right size and specification for our business.”

The distribution centre will be operational in time for Christmas deliveries and 4PX anticipates that the new operation will bring up to 400 jobs to the town by early 2017.

“Prologis has a strong relationship with 4PX and its shareholders in the Far East, so we are delighted to be working with the company in the UK,” said Andrew Griffiths, managing director, Prologis UK. “We believe that Dunstable is a strong location for the logistics sector, and we have invested in the town because it offers some of the best opportunities for our customers in the South East market.”

Prologis Park Dunstable is close to Junction 11 of the M1 motorway, which provides easy access to the national motorway network.

Jason Longhurst, Director of Regeneration and Business at Central Bedfordshire Council, said: “We are one of the new breed of local authorities that work flexibly and proactively to ensure the planning and location process is as smooth and efficient as possible. As a result, millions of pounds of investment have come into the area in recent months.

“4PX’s investment will bring hundreds of new employment opportunities to the area, further demonstrating Central Bedfordshire’s strength as a great place to invest.”
