A new interior design studio and shop has opened within Hockliffe Business Park.

Not only is Alchemist’s Interior Design an open working design studio and shop but it will also be running workshops, which will include lampshade making, painting furniture and soft furnishing workshops.

All of this has not happened overnight. For the last 20 years it has been a passion of design director Siobhan Buddrige and 10 years ago she decided to return to the University of Bedfordshire (Milton Keynes College) to study as a mature student and gained a degree in interior design.

Siobhan, 41, said: “Initially I worked from home to fit in with the family, then moved into office space but the business has grown dramatically that the time had come to open Alchemist’s Interior Design’s first shop.

“I have had a lot of support from local business, most of which I have meet through various networking events, who are all more than happy to give advice and have recently joined the FSB.

“When I first set up the limited company I used Business Link which was a place to learn all the basics of business. The biggest change in my business has been the internet and technology, as its changing so quickly I am constantly learning new skills. This applies to how I present drawing to customers, marketing the company or purchasing goods online.”
