A 23-year-old with dreams of becoming a successful singer songwriter is celebrating five years since opening up his very own music shop.
John Tubby, of Harrow Road, Leighton, launched JT Guitar as a mere 18-year-old boy during the recession and is now proud to say his venture has paid off thanks to a rented space in Bell Alley, which acts as a small music shop and teaching studio.
John, a graduate from The Institute Of Contemporary Music Performance in London, said: “I was teaching people how to play guitar at home, but I saw the opportunity to be able to rent a small space in the town centre and do the same thing, but have more people seeing where we are and what we do.
“It went from teaching five people a week to 63 in the same time at the shop!”
And now, five years on, John sells guitars and accessories as well as teaching students that range from as young as six years up to a man in his 70s. John said: “I’d like to thank all the students for making it work.”
