A '˜ridiculous' policy for repairing potholes has been slammed by a frustrated resident who says his council has only done half a job.

Mac Head, of Haines Farm Stoke Lane, Great Brickhill, was bemused when Bucks County Council left many defects untouched when it turned out to repair potholes on the lane.

He said: “They came and repaired half of the potholes but left the rest.

“It is ridiculous, why bother coming at all if you are only going to do half a job?

“I am disappointed that they have left them like that, this is one of the walk routes to Milton Keynes and someone could easily have an accident on these lanes the way those holes have been left.

“I do not see the point of the council sending people out to repair the potholes if they are not going to do a proper job and repair them all.”

A Transport for Buckinghamshire spokesman said they had only repaired the most serious fefects.

“As the highway authority for Buckinghamshire, Transport for Buckinghamshire have a duty to ensure that road defects that pose an immediate risk to the public are repaired within agreed timescales, once we have been made aware of them,” the spokesman said.

“This has been the caseon Stoke Lane in Great Brickhill.

“We prioritise pothole repairs, with the limited resources we have, using the county’s Highways Maintenance Manual.

“On occasion this will mean that sometimes we have to leave smaller potholes unattended, as they pose no safety risk.

“The pothole repairs that took place on this road were to repair defects that met our ‘priority’ repair criteria.

“The remaining defects on this road will be inspected in line with our policy and scheduled for repair when necessary.

“Our inspection policy and pothole categorisation can be found on our website: www.buckscc.gov.uk/transport/were-working-on-it/highways-maintenance/highway-inspection-policy/.”
