Independent traders in Leighton say they are delighted with the success of their Red Saturday promotion.

Retailers came together to offer shoppers a plethora of offers and deals on Saturday, May 3.

A traders’ statement said: “It went really well. The high street was abundant with red balloons and shoppers were very happy to know that there will be another Red Saturday event the beginning of next month.

“The offers on the day ranged from 20% off goods, lucky dips for the children, free ice creams, even free bird houses for the garden!

“We are looking forward to organising our next event with even more retailers with bigger better deals

One trader who took part was Leighton hair salon, Christie Paul Hair.

Paul Christie said: “We decided to offer some of our services with our stylist Alex for a charitable donation to The Dementia Gateway service in Houghton Regis.

“We thought this would be a good opportunity to create an awareness of this service and offer customers to experience our services in return. Hopefully as the Red Saturday event takes off people will be more aware of the businesses in Leighton Buzzard and encourage to shop local.”
