A mother and daughter partnership have saddled up to launch a new riding academy in LBO land.
Sam Darvill Equestrian is a family business, run by Sam and Marion Darvill, which has specialised in producing top class horses and ponies for competition and recreation, for the last 30 years.
Now the ladies have got the bit between their teeth and have decided to diversify and, after obtaining the required licence, have opened the riding adacemy at their Liscombe Park, Soulbury base.
Sam, 24, said: “We are offering a totally new opportunity to the local area, not only are we a riding school, but a pony club centre, giving kids the chance to compete on the ponies and offer a flexible structure for training, with the chance to gain achievement badges, be on a pony club quiz team and learn more about stable management.”
She added: “I have always loved horses, I was riding before I could walk.
“I was given my first pony, Roadrunner, in 1991 at the age of two.
“He taught me so much and was, as most 10.2hh ponies are, cheeky and quirky.
“He taught me the essential parts of riding; I would spend a lot of time on my bum on the floor, or out of control pelting flat out up a hill, or going where he wanted round a course of jumps!
“Mum set up a riding school which ran successfully for many years until she sold the business.
“I always wanted to offer the chance to children to learn to ride, and now, with the riding academy I can do just that.
“We can cater for all ages and abilities, from the age of four, and even for those who already own their own horse as we offer school master lessons, intense training clinics, pony parties and much more.”
