Leighton cookshop Glitzy Chef has closed less than two years after opening due to a lack of business.

The Bridge Street store specialised in kitchen equipment and gifts and offered cupcake decorating lessons.

Glitzy Chef opened in September 2012 and its owner, Claire Watson, retains the building lease and is looking into potential new ventures.

She said: “It’s been too quiet. The whole town has been quiet and there’s just not enough people, so we are struggling to make it work.

“I haven’t seen any improvements [in business in the town centre] recently. We’ve had the shop for 18 months and it’s not getting any better.”
