College crimpers win top awards

TRAINEE hairdressers from Central Beds College picked up top awards at a national competition.

Level 3 Hairdressing students Justin Carr and Robul Islam were awarded first place in the ‘men’s cut and finish’ and ‘mens alternative” respectively at the finals of the Association of Hairdressers and Therapists competition.

The competition was part of the Hair festival held at Winter Gardens in Blackpool on March 11 and 12.

The festival attracts about 600 competitors and 6,000 visitors each year.

Tutor Steve Campbell said: “We are so proud of Justin and Robal and all of the finalists from the College, to win all the awards we have shows how versatile and committed to student success the College is as a whole.”

Fellow student Stephanie Liasu was runner-up in the ‘woman’s Afro-Caribbean’ category.
