Leighton Buzzard welcomed a new pub on Wednesday when The Picture House opened on the site of the town’s first cinema.

Twelve new jobs have been created at the Lake Street pub, which was previously the Litten Tree and has been given a £230,000 refurbishment by Stonegate Pub Company.

General manager Donal Hartnett said: “We wanted to give the pub a nod to the site’s history with its new name. We’ve collected some fantastic Hollywood memorabilia, which gives the pub a star-studded feel.”

Local business leaders and residents were invited to a champagne reception to mark the pub’s official opening.

Regular events throughout the week will include darts and pool leagues on Mondays and Tuesdays and a Movie Night on Sundays when customers can enjoy a themed quiz and the showing of a classic film.
