After a hair-raising wait it can finally be announced that the winner of LBO’s Salon of the Year 2014 is Expressions Beauty Studios, who proved to be a cut above the rest.
Based on Lake Street, the studio is run by Leighton Buzzard business partners Jane Fairclough, 34, and Emma Kilby, 33, who were blow dried away by their success.
Emma said: “None of us expected it. We were really shocked and surprised – all the other places are really well-known and successful so we feel privileged to have won!”
Jane added: “Expressions Beauty Studios were campaigning for votes on Facebook, while we put posters up in the salon so we have to say a massive thank you to all our clients.”
The studio was established ten years ago by Emma, who then teamed up with Jane, the owner of a mobile beauty business, just over one year later. The achievement has been the varnish topping off a great decade.
“The best thing about the job is coming in and chatting to your mates. We have known some clients for over ten years and they become your friends – they have even been to our weddings!” laughed Emma.
“I think we have such loyal customers because we offer affordable, up-to-date techniques and treatments,” said Jane. “Emma and I work well together as business partners and bounce ideas off each other.”
The salon offers spray-tan-tic deals, including Super Saturday where customers can have half hour treatments at just £13.50, choosing from either a back massage, dermalogica facial, manicure, pedicure or spray tan.
For those with a sweet tooth there are also Pick and Mix Tuesdays, where treatments are £15 or clients can mix three for £40.
The ladies are plucking up the courage for next year’s Salon of the Year award and it will be wax strips at dawn as they prepare to take on the town’s hairdressers in the battle to keep their crown.
Jane said: “Hopefully we will keep being as successful as we have been – watch this space!”
It has been a nail-biting contest, but the girls will certainly be able to give any worn down fingers some much needed TLC!
