Injured war heroes are using a minibus that has been specially adapted at a company in Totternhoe.

Minibus conversion company Warnerbus Limited, in Castle Hill Road, recently delivered a bespoke designed, wheelchair accessible minibus to The Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre in Leatherhead.

The minibus was paid for and donated by the charity Help for Heroes who liaised with Warnerbus make sure it had the correct specifications.

The minibus was designed by Andrew Wallis, production director of Warnerbus, who also played a key role during the construction of the vehicle.

Mr Wallis said: “We were very proud to help such a deserving charity and express our sincere thanks to our suppliers for their generosity to Help For Heroes.”

Warnerbus approached key suppliers who agreed to provide essential equipment at a dramatically reduced price for the charity. Volkswagen discounted the vehicle.

The minibus will be used to transport wounded heroes as they progress with their rehabilitation. The majority of patients are wheelchair-bound.

Bryn Parry chief executive and co-founder of Help for Heroes said, “H4H is all about ‘doing your bit’ and the minibuses will make a real difference... on their road to recovery.”

The delivery of the new minibus coincides with Warnerbus winning a British Chambers of Commerce Award for the third consecutive Year – this year for outstanding customer care.
