Benches to commemorate the First World War are set to be installed in Mentmore Memorial Gardens.

Leighton-Linslade Town Council has agreed to spend up to £2,900 on the purchase of four benches in two different designs.

Designed and manufactured in the UK, the benches are made from 6mm thick laser cut steel with the imagery incorporating soldiers, crosses and poppies.

A council report states: “The designs are believed to be still relevant for the soldiers serving and fallen in today’s world.

“Not only will the benches demonstrate our support and recognition of the help that countless people have made, not only to the town and our country, this thoughtful purchase will also give residents and visitors to the town the perfect place to visit and remember loved one with fond thoughts.”
