The owner of well-known Leighton town centre cafe is hanging up her apron to start a new phase of her life.
After working in the town initially as a travel agent in the early 1970s and then going on to raise a family, Toni Forestiero arrived back in Leighton to start a new venture called Barringtons on April 18, 1990.
Now she has sold the business to new owner Louise Thelwall who takes over the reins this Saturday.
Toni said: “I would like to thank everyone I know, customers, past and present for the continued loyalty and support shown to me and Barringtons staff over the past 24 years.
“I have come to know so many of my customers personally and shall take many happy memories with me as I move to the next adventure in my life, making time for family, friends and some much needed time to relax and holiday!”
Toni also paid tribute to “her girls”, some of whom have been with her for the past 10-13 years.
She added: I would also like to wish Louise who is taking over as from April 26 as the new owner of Barringtons, all the success and good wishes for the future and am certain she will continue looking after Barringtons customers with aplomb.
“Should anyone wish to pop in for a farewell drink on Friday, April 25 I shall be happy to see you and say my goodbyes.”
New owner Louise said: “Thank you Leighton Buzzard for your continued support and may I take this opportunity in wishing Toni a well-earned retirement and thank members of staff for supporting us. They will continue working alongside us and very much value their loyalty and support.
“Our opening day takeover will be a celebration for all to enjoy and will be offering a cooked breakfast for £3.95 – tea/coffee and cake for £1.50 so come along and meet us and join in the fun.”
