Central Bedfordshire Council is celebrating parenthood with an event in Leighton Buzzard Market on Saturday (October 19).
All parents are welcome to come along to speak to professionals and get advice and ideas between 9am – 2.30pm.
It’s been organised to coincide with Parents’ Week (October 19-25), a national awareness raising campaign, which shines a light on the fantastic contribution of parents up and down the country.
The theme of this year’s event is ‘Make one change’, and it’s all about asking families, to commit to make one change which will make a positive difference to their lives. This could be something like setting aside an extra half an hour a day for play, finding out a bit more about healthy eating or listening to their children read every day.
To mark the week, the council is working with a range of partners to support a series of events across the area, where parents will be able to access advice, information and ideas from a wide range of local services as well as making their pledge to ‘make one change’ on special pledge boards.
Councillor Mark Versallion, Executive Member for Children’s Services, said: “Being a parent is the most rewarding responsibility in life. This Parents’ Week, we want to celebrate the amazing work that local parents do every day and let them know that support is on hand if they need it. If you’re out and about drop into one of the council’s events and pledge to ‘make one change’.”
