Leightonians have been left pondering the reason as to why one of their pubs has temporarily served its last orders.
And to add to the mystery of the sudden closure of The Top Bell, in Market Square, a notice on the door states that Enterprise Inns entered the premises for ‘the purposes of making them safe AND NOT to bring the lease to an end.’
Despite this, a spokesman for Enterprise Inns, who owns the building, said: “The site has been secured and there are no safety issues. We are carrying out minor works on the site.
“We can confirm that the Top Bell is only closed temporarily following the Publican’s decision to cease trading.
“We are actively recruiting for a new Publican with the passion and drive to take the business forward. Anyone interested about finding out more about this pub business opportunity can contact us on 0800 953 0072.”
