A Leighton mum-of-seven has had a close shave to raise more than £500 to help a disaster appeal.
Leanne Moreton-Barker, of Chuchill Road, sacrificed her near waist-length hair after seeing the plight of thousands of Filipinos affected by Typhoon Haiyan.
On Wednesday night she had all her hair shaved off at The Lance, in Lake Street. The pub also helped by putting charity boxes on the bar to help boost funds.
Afterwards Leanne, a carer, sent off her plait of hair to a cancer charity and the money raised from family, friends and regulars, to the disaster appeal.
She said: “I think the total will be about £500.
“I was very relaxed as I knew it was for a good cause.
“Plenty of people donated in the pub and the manager of The Lancer kept the charity boxes at the pub over the weekend to raise more money for which I am very grateful.
“I don’t have any regrets. My hair has been sent to a charity which makes wigs for children who have had cancer.
“I’m very proud at what I have achieved-just by doing a simple thing like cutting my hair”
