The event takes place on Edlesborough Green on Saturday (July 2) from 11am to 5pm.

Over the past two decades the carnival has raised more than £200,000 for local charities and organisations as well as repairs to Eaton Bray’s historic church.

This year funds will go towards the provision of defibrillators and repairs to St Mary’s.

Local residents and visitors have been invited to decorate floats and houses on the procession route. There’s a new family category this year, allowing anyone to take part in the parade as long as they embellish their car, van, trailer or tandem with something from the myths, monsters and magic theme.

The cavalcade will leave from The Orchards in Eaton Bray at 12.30pm led by carnival queen Millie Christie, her princess Daisy Potton and their attendants Isabel Marsh and Frida Merino.

They’ll be accompanied by marching bands, decorated floats, majorettes, vintage vehicles and a whole range of local residents in fun fashions supporting the myths, monsters and magic theme.

The convoy is expected to reach Edlesborough Green about 45 minutes later when the afternoon’s entertainment begins.

But rides, more than 120 stalls and a barbecue on the Green will already be in full swing.

Attractions this year include childrens entertainer Magic Dave, Diamond Dog Training Club, Whitchurch Morris Men, a gaint Ferris Wheel and CHaOS – Cambridge (University) Hands on Science, demonstrating a whole range of experiments.

There’s also a dog show with various categories including best puppy and prettiest bitch.
