Heath and Reach opera singer Lissie Allsopp has appearing in six performances of Dialogues Des Carmelites at the Royal Opera House.

The 21-year-old, of Linslade Road, is studying for a degree in Opera Studies with Rose Bruford College of Theatre and Performance and also studies privately in London with the accomplished soprano Katerina Mina.

“The opportunity to be part of the ensemble for Dialogues Des Carmelites is wonderful, to be part of a production at the opera house is fantastic” said Lissie.

The chance to take part came from Rose Bruford who alongside other partners were asked to provide performers. Rehearsals began in February and Lissie has had several rehearsals a week at the Opera House, starting in the rehearsal spaces and then moving onto the main stage with full orchestra under the direction of Sir Simon Rattle. The opera composed by Poulenc is produced by award winning Robert Carsen and is described as a sublime opera set during the violent upheaval of The French Revolution.

Last summer, the former Vandyke student performed in La Traviata directed by Sir Jonathan Miller at the Dorset Opera Festival and also The Flying Dutchman by Wagner.

Lissie still finds time to appear locally and now performs with the Advance Theatre Company with whom she played the role of Nancy in Oliver at Leighton Buzzard Theatre last month.
