Santa’s little helpers have reaped their rewards after volunteering to assist with the Rotary Club of Leighton-Linslade’s Christmas float.
During December, local groups and charities helped the Rotary Club with their tour around the streets of Leighton Buzzard and Linslade and the money raised has now been presented to those organisations.
A Rotary spokesman said: “ The groups numbered 22 and comprised Guides, Scouts, Army & Air Force cadets, swimming clubs, school PTAs and other voluntary groups and was the most the Ccub had ever had helping them.
“This resulted in an excellent amount being raised and subsequently distributed amongst these groups.”
Last Monday, representatives of the majority of the groups came to Tilsworth Golf Club, where the Rotary meet every Monday evenings, to be presented with cheques for £250 to say ‘thank you’ for their efforts. The club will also be presenting a cheque to the Salvation Army, which comprised of half the takings at the carol service on the High Street on Christmas Eve.
