Leighton High Street could see itself transformed into a shoppers paradise under far-reaching plans being discussed this week.
But one option may put a damper on a scheme to revamp and revitalise the town centre.
As part of town centre priority schemes it is being suggested that the High Street could consider adopting the controversial shared space idea so hated in Dunstable.
Another option, being put to Leighton-Linslade Town Council this week, would be to make the High Street fully pedestrianised for Saturday markets and special events which would involve re-routing buses, moving taxi ranks and finding an area for market traders to park and unload their vehicles.
